Sessions

Sessions and what to expect.

What does a typical session look like?

A warm welcome, a fundamental movement warm-up, the sport or skill of the week, and a calm finish. Sessions run 40 to 60 minutes depending on the age group, with 10 minutes of social time at the end for fruit and free play.

Every session is planned around the five strands of early childhood development: physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and communication and language. Your coach is watching for milestones across all five — and when your child reaches one, they award a badge and you receive a certificate. Fun comes first, always.

What should my child wear?

Comfortable sportswear they can move freely in. Leggings or shorts, a t-shirt, and trainers with a good grip. For Little Learners, anything they’re happy crawling, climbing and rolling around in. Layers in winter. We use indoor and outdoor venues depending on the season.

What should we bring?

A named water bottle, and that’s the essentials covered. For longer sessions and holiday camps, a small healthy snack. For SEND sessions, bring any sensory item, comforter or communication aid your child relies on. We plan around it.

Do I stay or drop off?

For Little Learners (18 months to 2½), parents stay and join in. That’s the whole point. From Move Makers onwards, you’re welcome to stay or pop out for a coffee, whichever works better for your child. Holiday camps are full drop-off.

What happens if it rains?

Most venues are indoor or have indoor backup. If a session is genuinely cancelled because of weather or venue issues, you’ll get a free make-up session or a credit. Your choice.

My child is nervous. Will they be okay?

Yes, and we’d rather hear about it before the session than during. Tell us when you book and we’ll plan a gentler entry, brief the coach, and let your child watch from the side until they’re ready. No child has ever been pushed in at ActiveED, and no child ever will be.

What age does my child need to be to start?

Our youngest group, Little Learners, takes children from 18 months. Younger than that, get in touch and we’ll let you know when something appropriate is opening. Our founding pathway runs up to age 7. Action Achievers (7 to 9), SEND sessions and holiday camps are joining the pathway next, and you can join the waitlist to be first in line.

Badges & Journey Page

Milestone badges and your child’s journey.

What is the milestone badge system?

Every ActiveED child has a personal journey page. As they progress through their programme, your coach awards milestone badges across five strands of development: physical, social, emotional, communication and cognitive. Each badge has its own printable certificate — a permanent record of a real moment of growth.

There are 5 badges per programme. Earn all five and your child unlocks the Grand Programme Certificate. No comparison, no ranking. Just your child, their journey, celebrated.

How does my child earn a badge?

Your coach watches for milestones during sessions — things like trying something new with confidence, helping a friend, following a two-step instruction, or showing real determination with a tricky skill. When they’re satisfied your child has genuinely reached that milestone, they award it. Badges aren’t handed out for attendance; they mean something.

How do I see my child’s journey page?

Once your child is enrolled, your coach will send you a unique link — just for your child, just for your family. It will look something like activeeducationmulti-sports.com/badges/?child=yourcode. Keep it in your messages or email. No app to download, no account to create. The link works forever.

Can I download and print the certificates?

Yes. Every awarded badge generates a personalised, printable certificate with your child’s name on it. You can download and print as many times as you like. Some families frame them. Others stick them on the fridge. They’re yours to keep forever.

What is the Grand Programme Certificate?

When your child earns all five badges in their programme — one for each strand of development — they unlock the Grand Programme Certificate. It’s a celebration of the whole journey, and it’s something worth putting on the wall.

Is the badge system included in the session price?

Yes. The journey page, all milestone badges, all certificates and the Grand Programme Certificate are all included with every ActiveED enrolment. There’s no extra cost and no separate sign-up.

Can I share my child’s journey page with family?

Absolutely. The link works for anyone you share it with — grandparents, other parents, whoever you want to include in your child’s journey. It’s a read-only view of their badges and certificates, so they can see everything your child has achieved.

Inclusion

SEND, medical and inclusion.

My child has SEND. Are your sessions right for them?

Almost certainly, but the honest answer is it depends on the child, and that’s why we ask. Our SEND sessions are planned and led with input from a Psychology graduate and SEND specialist with primary school experience. We work with families before the first session to understand sensory needs, communication style, triggers and what success looks like for your child.

Can my SEND child join a mainstream session instead?

Often, yes. Lots of children thrive in our standard programmes with small adjustments. Tell us about your child when you book and we’ll recommend the right starting point honestly.

My child has allergies or a medical condition. What do I do?

Include the details when you book. Allergies, asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, anything we should know. We ask the questions others don’t, because we plan around what your child actually needs. Coaches are paediatric first aid trained and will have the information before your child walks in.

Booking

Booking, payment and changes.

How do I book?

Head to our booking page. You’ll see live availability, dates and times, and can secure your child’s place in a couple of minutes. Prefer to chat first? Email ActiveEDMS@outlook.com with your child’s age, preferred programme, nearest town or postcode, and any SEND, medical or dietary information. We usually reply the same day.

How much does it cost?

Drop-ins are £10. A half-term block works out at £8 per week, saving £2 every week against drop-in. Holiday camp pricing will be announced shortly. The milestone badge system and journey page are included with every enrolment at no extra cost. Founding family pricing is available now for early joiners. Full breakdown on the booking page.

How do I pay?

Payment is taken securely through our booking system at the time of booking. If you’d prefer to pay another way, drop us an email and we’ll work something out.

What if we miss a session?

Drop-ins are pay-per-session, so you only pay for what you use. For half-term blocks, we offer one free make-up session per block. Just let us know in advance where you can.

Can I get a refund?

Half-term blocks are refundable up to 7 days before the block starts. After that, we’ll offer a credit toward a future block or a make-up session. Holiday camps are refundable up to 14 days before the camp. After that, credits only.

Do you offer trial sessions?

Yes. Pay-as-you-go drop-ins (£10) work as a no-pressure trial. If you book the half-term block straight after, we’ll knock the drop-in cost off.

Sibling discounts?

Yes. Mention siblings when you book and we’ll work out the best combined rate for your family. Full pricing context is on the booking page.

I’m joining mid half-term. Is that okay?

It’s never too late to join. If the half term has already started, drop us an email and we’ll set up a booking at our half termly rate for the remaining weeks, no fuss.

Coaches

Coaches and safety.

Who’s coaching my child?

Right now, it’s our founder Ryan Mulhere on every session. Ryan is a Director of Sport with nine years of PE teaching experience from reception to post-16. As we grow, every coach we bring on will be qualified, DBS cleared, safeguarding trained and paediatric first aid certified before they step onto a session, and Ryan will personally oversee their planning and delivery.

What’s the coach to child ratio?

Typically 1:10, lower for Little Learners and SEND sessions. We’d rather run a slightly smaller group well than a big one badly.

Are you insured?

Yes. Full public liability insurance is in place across all sessions and venues.

Are coaches DBS checked and safeguarding trained?

Yes. Enhanced DBS, paediatric first aid and safeguarding training are in place before any coach steps on a session, and refreshed annually in line with KCSIE guidance. The non-negotiables, taken seriously.

Locations

Locations and timetable.

Where do you run sessions?

Across Kent and South East London, in a mix of indoor and outdoor venues. We’re adding venues continuously. Check the booking page for current locations, or email with your nearest town or postcode and we’ll tell you the closest current group.

When do sessions run?

Weekend mornings during term time. Holiday camps run during half-terms and school breaks. The booking page shows the current timetable, updated as new groups open.

Do you do birthday parties or one-off events?

Not yet, but it’s on the roadmap. Drop us an email if you’d like to be told as soon as we open up bespoke events, school holiday workshops or birthday party bookings.

Do you run sessions at nurseries or schools?

Yes, we’re actively building partnerships with nurseries, pre-schools and primary schools across Kent and South East London. If you run a setting and would like to discuss in-house sessions, please get in touch.

Still have a question?

A real human reply, usually the same day.
